UCW Matches #350-#354

Alright seriously now I am going to sit down and focus on completing this blog and many more to come in the coming week.  To start its only fair that I recap the matches that have come out at UCW since the last post.  NO SPOILERS here! If you want to be spoiled go and download the matches after you are finished here.  These are only my thoughts at a glance of UCW Matches #350-#354

UCW Match #350: Hiro vs Eli Black – Everyone’s (arguably) favorite tattooed bad boy takes on everyone’s favorite cutest Asian.  OMG I was so worried for Hiro’s life when I heard this match was going to happen.  If you haven’t noticed there aren’t too many faces (good guys) left here at UCW, and Hiro is still a relative newbie with a long way to go before he even has a shot at the belt.  So for him to face uber skilled Eli Black, well lets just say the Las Vegas betting odds were not in his favor.  Much to my surprise Hiro actually delivers some beatings onto Eli and confuses him with some foreign language.

Match #351: Oliver Wood vs Michael Hannigan – My man Michael Hannigan is back to take on rookie heel Oliver Wood.  Oliver is definitely a lone wolf and could benefit from a few lessons from yours truly.  However, he insists on staying heel.  Since I had a napkin stuffed match with Wood, I thought Hannigan also deserved a shot at the lone heel.  Hannigan proves why he was a champion at one point in time and Oliver tries his best to prove why being a heel is better than face, for better or for worse.

Match #352Aron and Axel vs Michael Hannigan and Stay*C Adams (Lost Video) – For those of you not familiar with UCW, we do occasionally do custom video requests for clients.  Sometimes we take the custom videos after a period of time and re-edit them for the site.  This is one such match.  The story line goes like this…Aron and I are suppose to defending the tag team title against Hannigan and Adams, I mix up the time so Aron is absent and I have to go solo against the other two wrestlers.  Aron shows up after the match and gives me a piece of his mind.

Match #353 Jax vs Axel – I must say I am always happy to see a new face at UCW especially when its another fellow “face”.  Jax decided to start off the match with some good old fashioned arm wrestling. Personally I prefer actual wrestling but I humored Jax’s idea then promptly went for the real deal. For a rookie, Jax is definitely well above the average that walks through the UCW threshold.  I do hope that the fans will catch on too.  This match was definitely his first but it will certainly not be his last.  Side note…Jax is quite busy with his new job but will be back in the fall to fight some more, rumor has it that the new job has made him RIPPED! Digging ditches and holes for a living will do that.

Match 354: Johnny Deep vs Eli Black (Oil Match) – The olive oil runs freely, a little too freely here in the never ending feud between Eli Black and Johnny Deep. I have to hand it to Eli for being a complete tool bag he does know how to make a match interesting.  Whether its turning the mat into a slip and slide or creating moves out of nothing.  Johnny may not be as talented as Eli but still knows how to arm the hearts of his many fans.  Unfortunately this is one of the last matches featuring Johnny Deep so be sure to add this to the collection.

Alight I will be back tomorrow with Matches #355-#360.  Time to go train a newbie and see if he has what it takes to step onto the UCW mat!

Throw Back Thursday – My First Wrestling Video

Long, long, ago.  In a galaxy far, far away.  Ok, so it was 5 years ago and it was in Wisconsin.  It was a Friday on a cool dreary April day.  I had set out with my 1990 Buick Regal GS (the one and only car I ever owned) from my college town of Stevens Point down to Milwaukee to meet with a man named Michael aka “Bodyslam” about wrestling for a new venture called UCW.

63367_101841993212043_907874_n                                                                                    Prior to our meeting Bodyslam had contacted me via a website called allfighters (now called meetfighters), which was basically a social media website for anyone into meeting up or talking about wrestling and other combat sports.  Bodyslam reached out and asked to be a part of this new website and gave me his contact info.

Needless to say I was very skeptical at first.  I took his info and did as much Google/internet research as I could on him.  It brought me his previous wrestling endeavors which included NSW (New Stars of Wrestling) videos on Youtube.  From there I figured out that he was legit and that I would give it a shot.

The timing was critical too.  I was in a bad spot in my life.  I had recently dropped out of college, was working part time at a minimum wage job, and was suffering from depression and other medical issues.  I was ready for something new to help get me out of this funk that I was in.

We met half-way in Oshkosh, with two other potential wrestlers, and then drove the rest of the way to the house of James “The Never Give-Up Kid”.  After a few hours of talking, signing paperwork, and training from James it was go time.  Prior to this I had no pro wrestling training whatsoever.  I had stopped watching WWE back in my high school days because it lost the 90’s appeal that turned me into a fan.  So no surprise I was a bit lost when James was training us.  He was throwing out names of famous wrestlers before the 90’s and after the 90’s that I had no recollection of.  Moves that were beyond my arsenal much less my vocabulary.   However, after being taught the basics it was time for my first match.  The only problem was the guy I was suppose to face decided this wasn’t for him.  It was a sigh of relief on my part because he had actually participated in Bodyslams earlier pro wrestling feds and was more seasoned than I was.  He instead would go on to ref my first match against the man named JR.

Picture                                                           Lights up and camera on.  Here I was, a 23 year old college drop out with some experience with Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, MMA, Boxing, but barely any wrestling.  I was up against a guy who was much more muscular and had prior wrestling experience, in a basement of a house infront of people I had only met in person that day.  To say I was scared was an understatement, I was terrified.  It was time to take what I had learned in the past and what I learned that day and fuse it together.  What transpired was the jolt energy I had been looking for.  Never before had I had so much fun, and I was getting paid for it too.

Picture3                                                           Back and forth JR and I put each other into painful awkward holds and dishing out equally awkward kicks and punches.  Looking back at it now my current self would whoop the two of them easily at once.  Its actually really painful for me to watch this video now because I see so many mistakes made in each other’s game plan.  However, that doesn’t diminish the feeling I had from that first match.  I remember at one point JR and I were both breathing heavily and exhausted, but still eager to make the other tap or pin his shoulders to the mat.  We both looked glanced and smiled at each other with this sadistic twinkle in our  eyes, as if to say “this is fucking fun.”

Picture2                                                           As those of you who have watched this match know, I ended up winning this match.  I had exhausted all the pro moves I could remember and decided to resort to some MMA tactics and was able to entrap JR in triangle choke.  I held on for all I had and he finally gave up the fight.  I almost didn’t let go until the ref stepped in and pulled me off.  I was ecstatic.  I come in and proven to myself that I could actually do this, I had even forgotten that there was a camera watching me the entire time.

Its fun to look back now and see how much I progressed.  Bodyslam even told me a few years later that after I had left, from that first day, even with a victory and a smile on my face, James, and the other core guys who started UCW, were convinced that I wouldn’t make it far.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Recent UCW…

Ok, so I started out with a good start to the blog and then I ignored it so lets play some catch up.  First up lets highlight the latest UCW matches.

1978854_651420041572240_5219225053163404268_n                                           Match #347 – Black Dragon makes a return visit to the UCW mat and arguably reincarnated into a newer and better body.  Even  I don’t know who the real Black Dragon is.  He was a wrestler back in Bodyslam’s previous federation back in Milwaukee and has guarded the identity and probably will to his grave.  As is usually the case we were short a man and Nick Diesel was anxious for another fight (i.e. paycheck) before he headed back home so one phone call later and in through the door came the Dragon.  Nick is up to his usual rope and tricks which rarely let him down in a fight.  But it is Black Dragon that stunned us all by going where no Dragon has gone before, and that would be a thong!  What follows is nothing short of comical, action packed, and down right sexy action and humiliation.

10342506_655009114546666_147003786261896116_n                                           Match #348 – Dakota Bravo, an interesting man indeed and one of the bigger ones we’ve had here at UCW.  A wannabe mma fighter, I would certainly pay to see him and Eli go at it.  Of course we allow anyone to come in and fight in the UCW ring.  One day he called me out.  I was itching for a match myself, mainly because I wanted to show off my new octopus tights.  With the gloves strapped on and and bell rung we begin our lil brawler dance.  I may not always be the smartest wrestler, I’ll admit I can get a lil cocky and full of myself, so i will say trying to stand-up to a bigger brawler may not have been the best idea.  But boy did it make for a damn good video.

10300122_657347934312784_4164386078272898432_n                                           Match #349 – Hunter Day and Billy Gun, 2 heels I have never really been fond of.  Hunter, a bum off the street with illusions of grandeur (case in point his very, very, record breaking short run as UCW champion who has no real skill and is just your usual bully.  Billy Gunn is the type of bully that should have stayed in school and graduated.  Whenever two heels enter the ring its always a guess as to who will walk away the winner.  There is also the chance that one heel will end the other’s career.  After this match I’m almost certain that one of these guy’s won’t be back.

All of these matches are available at http://www.ucw-wrestling.com/ for the standard price of $13.99 per video.  Buy, download, and enjoy!
